The textiles and clothing department of the US Department of Commerce issued a supplementary notice in April 25, 2008. The committee decided to implement textile safeguard measures for some cotton socks imported from Honduras.

Special safeguard measures are applicable to import and export of warehouses. The consumption time is from December 31st July 1, 2008 to December 31st.

In August 21, 2007, the Commission launched a special investigation to determine whether the import of cotton, wool and man-made fiber socks in Honduras led to serious losses or substantial threats to the US industry.

The initial investigation was 30 days, and stakeholders and stakeholders were invited to submit their comments.

Based on the collected comments and information, the Committee has confirmed that the cotton socks produced in Honduras are causing serious or substantial threats to the US industry because the Committee intends to implement textile safeguard measures for such commodities.

In January 18, 2008, the United States submitted a written notice to the government of Honduras, indicating that the United States plans to implement textile safeguard measures for the import of cotton socks in Honduras.

The government of Honduras asked for consultations, and the two sides held consultations for 60 days, but the two sides decided to extend consultations for 30 days.

The Committee further pointed out that during the consultations, the Honduras government agreed to seek no compensation for the special safeguard measures without any tariff action.

The Committee believes that the above actions will remedy the serious losses of US domestic industry and the efforts made by the industry, and make a positive adjustment to import competition.
