Chinese Elements On Clothes Of Foreign Olympic Delegation
| ||||||
As the Olympic Games were held in Beijing, many delegations in Germany, Poland, Canada, New Zealand, Switzerland, the United States and Russia joined the Chinese elements in their costumes. Some of them added Chinese names to Chinese, some added "dragon" or Phoenix red patterns, and others reflected "five rings", "Jing" or "BEIJING2008" signs.
According to the Beijing News, the German team's uniforms are usually white, with a combination of black and yellow, and can be recognized at a glance. In addition to the words "Deutschland (Germany)", they also wrote "Germany", which is more clear at the moment.
Marion Rodewald, a German hockey player, wore such a uniform when he walked in the Olympic village. "All athletes participating in the Olympic Games will get such a dress, which is specially designed for the Beijing Olympic Games." Rodewald worked hard to pronounce "Germany", though the pronunciation was not very standard. "Chinese characters are very interesting. We are all very curious that our country's name is so spelled in Chinese."
Like Germany, the Chinese name was written in Chinese on the costumes, and Canada, New Zealand, Russia and so on. The Poland team also printed the words "Poland Olympic delegation" and had the impression that the seal was covered.
The Swiss delegation wore a new dragon shaped red pattern on the shoulders of each sportsman's clothing. Berg, head of the Swiss delegation, explained the meaning of the design: "the dragon is a symbol of China. Red is the color of the Swiss flag. This combination represents respect for the host country, and it also hopes the Swiss team will get good luck."
According to the reporter, the clothing of the US delegation also embodies the symbol of "five rings", "Jing" or "BEIJING2008" near the chest.
The most eye-catching design of the Russian delegation's sportswear is a red phoenix pattern. The Russian traditional totem is a two headed eagle inherited from Byzantium, but this time in China, it became a symbol of auspicious Phoenix.
Russian hurdler Alexandra Antonova said: "Russia has many myths related to Phoenix. Phoenix represents good luck. We hope to wear such clothes to China to pray for more medals for Russia, and the design looks like 8 words, which means auspiciousness."
With the red and white main colors, Antonova said, "is red not a good fortune in China? And this color is very conspicuous. " |
