A better way.

The Windows system contains all the tools that need to customize the desktop cleaning automatic reminder mechanism. By this way, you can easily find the shortcut icons, files and folders that you haven't used recently.

At the same time, you can set the time interval of the cleaning program at will.

This method has a good performance in Windows Me/2000/XP, and it can also be done in Windows 9x.

It is a pity that users can not get clear prompt information in the Windows 9x system.

In Windows 9x, double-click "my computer" * "plan task" * "add plan task", activate the "plan Task Wizard".

In other versions of Windows, select "start" * settings "*" control panel "or" start "*" control panel ".

If you are using the classified view of Windows XP, click the "performance and maintenance" icon, click or "double click" (if need), "task plan" and "add task plan" icon, and enter the "Task Plan Wizard" dialog box.

Continue clicking the next button, click the Browse button in the next dialog box, and open the select program for the plan dialog box.

In the "filename" input box, enter the path of the explorer.exe? In most systems, the path is "c:windowsexplorer.exe" or "c:winntexplorer.exe".

Press the "Enter" button to return to the task plan Wizard dialog box.

By default, the task is called "Explorer", but you change it to another descriptive name.

Then, choose the time interval to perform this task and continue clicking the next button.

Unless you choose the "computer startup time" or "login time" option when defining the task interval, you can set the specific time for the execution of the program in the next dialog box of the wizard.

Then click the next button.

In the Windows 2000/XP system, you must enter the 2 password (if you want this task to be executed by a special user, you need to enter the relevant account name and password).

After clicking the next button, select the "advanced property" check entry when you click "finish".

At this point, the system pops up a dialog box called "Explorer" (or user defined other names).

The "run" input box of the dialog box immediately follows the input "Explorer.exe" command to enter the desktop folder path.

In Windows 9x/Me system, this path is usually "C:WindowsDesktop" (if you use a computer without other users) or "C:WindowsProfilesProfile NameDesktop" (where "Profile Name" is your account name).

In Windows 2000 or XP system, the desktop folder path is usually "C:Documents and SettingsProfile NameDesktop".

Please note that the above example is adjusted to ensure that you meet the system requirements you use.

In the Windows 2000 or XP system, you also need to enter the 2 password and click the confirmation button more than once.

Right click the task plan that you just created, and select the Run option in the shortcut menu.

A Windows Explorer window will be opened and the contents of the current desktop will be displayed at the same time.

In order to make use of it more effectively, you also need to fine tune this window.

The method is to select "view" * "Folder Options" or "tools" * "Folder Options", depending on the version of Windows you use.

Click the View tab, in the advanced settings project, make sure that you remember the view settings for each folder, the check is selected, and then click the confirmation button.

So far, you have completed the preparation of the custom window, then select "view" * "details" to view the desktop specific content information.

In Windows 2000/Me/XP, select "view" * "select column" or "view" * "select details".

In the dialog box that pops up, select the "access" or "access time" check items and remove the unwanted options, then click the "confirm" button.

In the explorer, click the top 2 times of the "access" or "access time" column to ensure that the shortcuts in the desktop are arranged according to the last use time.

So when you start the task window next time, it will appear in this way.

You can quickly browse through which shortcuts have not been used for a long time, delete unnecessary shortcuts or move to other folders.

Users of the Windows 9x system do not seem to be so lucky that they will not be able to see the result of the recent access to desktop shortcuts.

However, you can click on the top of the "modification time" column, so that all items can be arranged in the order that was modified last time.

At the same time, the system will give you a prompts window regularly to let you choose which items to keep or clear.
