Pakistan Suspends Anti-Dumping Duties On Polyester Staple Fibres In China

The Customs Committee has confirmed that it has suspended domestic production.

Products are subject to anti-dumping duties.
The customs code for the products involved is 5503.20.10.
In May 2010, local importers filed a lawsuit against the Lahore Court on the legality of the Pakistan Customs Committee's decision to impose anti-dumping duties.
The court held that the procedure adopted by the ruling was not in conformity with the requirements.

A new anti-dumping investigation was carried out, and the anti-dumping duty was suspended during the investigation.
Under normal circumstances, the Pakistan customs committee ruled that all three members must be issued before they could take effect. However, due to a long vacancy in one of its members, in 2009, the decision on Levying anti-dumping duties on domestic polyester staple fibres was initiated by two members.
It is learnt that at present, the Pakistan Customs Committee is preparing to re investigate the work on the one hand, and has appealed to the Supreme Court of Pakistan on the other hand.
The Palestinian High Court has accepted the case and initiated relevant investigations and hearings.
