Bangladesh Textiles Tariff Free

About 300 Bangladesh products have been granted tariff free access to the Malaysia market.

As the largest tourist shopping center in Asia, in order to occupy a place in the world map, officials from the Dhaka Export Promotion Council (EPB) announced that the Malaysia government had abolished tariffs on Bangladesh's imports.


Clothing, blankets, suits, tablecloths,

Children's wear

Bedspreads, curtains, underwear, clothing,

Evening dress

Both nets and mosquito nets are included in the list, and these products are granted tariff free entry to Malaysia.


Earlier, customs duties on clothing and hats were 5-20%, while the duty on sheets, curtains, blankets and tablecloths was 10-20%.


In 2010, Malaysia agreed with the 19 export products of Bangladesh to enter the Malaysia market without customs duties, if Bangladesh agreed to start negotiations on bilateral free trade agreements (FTA).


At present, Malaysia is one of Bangladesh's main trading partners, and exports to Malaysia in fiscal year 2009-10 are about US $35 million.
