Alpaca Wool May Be A Substitute For Merino Wool.

In Australia, alpaca is considered an alternative to Merino wool.

On the basis of selling a pack of camel hair to China last year, buyers now expressed interest in purchasing 100 packs of camel wool from Australia.

In the past, alpaca wool was only purchased by a co-operative, namely Australian Alpaca Wool Company, and subsequently privatized.

Last year, because shepherds of sheep's camel's hair did not get a good return, they contacted a local business organization, which sold the camel hair to China at a price of 2800 cents per kilogram.

The test shows that the processing properties of alpaca wool are similar to that of Merino hair clipping of 18 or 19 microns, and alpaca lacks the lanolin components contained in Merino wool.

Because the yield of alpaca wool is higher than that of wool, traders hope to get more sheep to meet the current demand.

Traders expect sheep's camel hair to attract more interest among buyers, because alpaca hair is glossy and soft.

They believe that if camel hair can be produced in precise specifications, they can compete with cashmere and other wool in the global market.
