In the eyes of most people, the development of the textile industry may be equated with the beautiful clothes.

"Extensive development is still a prominent problem facing the development of the textile industry. Growth is mainly supported by material resources consumption, and the phenomenon of re extension and light connotation is still widespread, especially the cost of resources and environment for supporting development." Gao Yong, vice president of the China Textile Industry Federation, admitted at the meeting of the national textile industry energy conservation and emission reduction conference recently held.

The data show that the water intake of the textile industry has not risen, rising from 27.78 million tons in 2005 to 36.22 billion tons in 2010, ranking fifth in 39 industrial sectors and third in wastewater discharge. According to the production cost structure of industrial enterprises, the proportion of energy resources consumed by textile enterprises accounts for more than 70% of the cost.

According to Gao Yong analysis, the textile industry is a large water user. Under the condition that it is difficult to control the total amount of water, increasing the rate of repeated water consumption can effectively reduce the intake of fresh water. However, due to the technical level, the quality of water in the production and processing of textile products is still very high, and the recovery of waste water is mostly used in auxiliary links rather than production links.

"The deepening and refinement of energy conservation and emission reduction and comprehensive utilization of resources also need strong support from technological progress in the industry." Gao Yong said, "in the field of comprehensive utilization of resources, research and development of key technologies has become a bottleneck for the effective utilization of renewable resources."

Gao Yong said that under the circumstances of overall decline in production growth, unstable raw material prices and severe export situation, changing the extensive growth mode and speeding up energy conservation and emission reduction and comprehensive utilization of resources will be the main direction for the textile industry in the coming period.

The China Federation of textile industry proposed that the energy consumption per unit of industrial added value will be reduced by 20% in 12th Five-Year than in 2010.

At the meeting, the China Textile Industry Federation Environmental Protection Committee formally established the energy conservation and emission reduction technology alliance, with a view to helping the textile enterprises to carry out energy-saving and emission reduction work. It is reported that the technical alliance enterprises participating in the contract are mainly energy saving and emission reduction technology and equipment enterprises, and the main technical equipment conforms to the 35 advanced and practical technical requirements popularized in the "textile industry sustainable development outline".
