In addition to her own program on BBC Radio 1, she produced Kanye West's Life of Pablo and music for David Attenborough's Blue Planet 2, which has been working with the leading creative directors of the fashion industry for many years.

The DJ has produced the show music for Phoebe Philo C era line, and made the original voice for the first Poiret series of designer Yiqing Yin.

He has recently been appointed music director of the Louis Vuitton men's wear brand by her Virgil Abloh.

The real name is Benjamin Benstead. He ran back and forth between high school and the production of DJ Gilles Peterson for Kiss FM of London's mainstream radio station. On the day of his last examination, he began working on the first day of making Something Else.

Four years later, Benstead, known as Benji B today, worked as a 1Xtra DJ on BBC, becoming DJ of Radio 1 on a Wednesday night.

BoF and the music prodigy sit together and listen to why there is a guide for sound and sound. It is important for creative people like Abloh to treat music as seriously as other art forms.

How did you start your DJ career?

Nowadays, everyone is DJ, but when I was in school, it was an unusual profession.

This is not something you can say to your career counselor in grade six.

Most of them end up working in florists or insurance companies, and I work in a Independent record company in London Bridge.

This is about the profession and the common character.

It's not as simple as a sentence. What matters is not what you know, but who you know.

It's about having the opportunity to work with my respected colleagues to learn about what happened in record companies and radio stations. This is my greatest passion.

For me, the most important breakthrough was working at Kiss FM at the age of 16.

I contacted the former Kiss FM host Gilles Peterson and said to him, "I really like what you do on the radio, but I can do better for you."

This is what you do when you are only 16 years old.

Our relationship developed very well. I started making his program when I was still at school.

What made you stand out at the beginning of your career?

My professional ethics.

A great part of your job is to understand that you must continue and work.

I soon realized that I wanted to be engaged in a career that was not legalized through a degree or qualification, so I never went to college.

Experience in this field, experience and input into one's own work is qualification.

At the age of 18, on the day of my last examination, everyone burned books and became furious at the bar.

But I set foot on the subway and started my first day of work. Since then, I have been working everyday.

What is the most valuable lesson you learned at the beginning of your career?

Obedience is not the root of success.

Most people, especially in the age of Instagram followers, are more interested in consistency and subscription to a particular musical style than to see the importance of their own opinions.

I have no confidence in my personal life, but I have absolute confidence in my favorite music, respectful music and good music.

If you live and breathe everyday, you should not be afraid to express your opinions.

I have this understanding of music on the street, and the authority of this level is respected by the people around us.

How did your career enter the fashion world?

I always find pleasure in interpreting people's vision with music, so naturally, this will eventually be associated with clothing and style.

The culture of sports shoes and the global family of that scene, especially the skating culture, are directly related to what we do, just like those of St ssy and Supreme.

We used to get together at Bond International in Soho District, so this kind of Party naturally developed into something else. I made DJ for their shop opening, or helped them with music.

As far as T music is concerned, it begins on Savile Row (Savile Street).

I worked with Ozwald Boateng, Gieves and Hawkes and Jason Basmajian before.

Then I received a call from Phoebe Philo.

This combination of creativity, whether in clothing itself or in fashion shows, is inspiring.

Is there any difference in performance between different brands?

If I'm doing DJ, you will hear what I want to express, but if I try to plate other people's ideas, it doesn't have to fall into what I naturally want to play or like.

I want to turn it into the right music.

My job also involves planning and bringing things that I think are relevant to that particular season, or challenging people to expose them to other things.

Music is about making people better understand the environment, and how to create instant by adding emotion and atmosphere through music.

In the fashion world, there are many amazing creations in progress, but often there is no such amazing music. I want to bring more amazing music into this field.

This is a land that has not been reclaimed.

What does the role of music director mean for you?

It is important to have a guide for voice and feeling, especially when you work with creative people. They treat music as seriously as other art forms, and music is not just a convenient music.

I deal directly with creativity, and I avoid all other noises. I try to turn their vision into a music center.

The rhythm of music in 9 minutes or 12 minutes is different in any other situation.

When the production director said, "well, we reduced the show time from 46 minutes to 42 minutes, and the girls will appear in 10 seconds instead of 12 seconds." this is a language I can understand now. This is a science according to how many shapes they cut, or how fast the boys or girls walk, and how many minutes we will lose.

How did you become the music director of Louis Vuitton menswear?

My cooperation with Virgil is the natural result of my relationship with him for over 10 years, and we share each other's thoughts and footprints.

Working with people who are progressive and tolerant like him is definitely a pleasure, because he already has such a broad and passionate musical knowledge.

This is not the work of your friend, but the experience of working with companies such as Louis Vuitton.

This is not a joke.

You must understand this language. You have to have such experience to achieve this.

We are redefining rules at the moment.

It is essential to do DJ in fashion related activities.

This is not an inevitable industry for fashion shows to create music.

There are no rules.

Inclusiveness is the most exciting element in today's fashion world.

For the first time in history, people on the fringe felt a part of the conversation.

I mean more than just diversity. Although it's thirty years late, it's still very popular.

I am also talking about young people, class. In fact, fashion shows are almost an external broadcast.

This closed and exclusive small world has now been completely broken.

What advice do you give to people who are in the early stages of their career?

It is more important to get ahead in learning and to have the privilege of making mistakes than to be recognized, satisfied, one million followers and a cheque immediately.

This modern standard of follower distorts your true identity.

What makes a person stand out is whether they are interested in the real themselves and creatively.

The unexpected result of the age of fans is the idea of wanting to be DJ or the difference between records.

The two are very different.

Do you love the idea of becoming a designer, or do you really love textiles and sewing until your hands turn blue?

Do you like radio programs or do you like to stay up until 4 in the morning to prepare for the program?

Now there is an incredible pressure on young people because big companies try to minimize bottlenecks so that we can listen to the same artists on the same streaming platform and wear the same sneakers.

The most valuable thing you have is your personality, that is, no one is the same.

Everyone's cultural experience and musical perspective are unique to them. It's important to express your individuality.

The rule of thumb is still the same - if you don't hear the record you want to listen to, record it.

If you don't have a club night, if you want to go, create it.

That's what I did.
