In the first half of this year, there were 908 textile and garment export enterprises in the city, with a year-on-year increase of 13.5%; 12264 business transactions were handled by textile and garment export enterprises in the city, with an export volume of 4.828 billion yuan, a year-on-year increase of 5%. On the basis of four consecutive years of steady growth in 2016, 2017, 2018 and 2019, the textile and garment export volume of the city has increased again, realizing the "five consecutive increases".

This year, due to the impact of the new crown pneumonia epidemic, the global trade market demand shrank, and the global clothing industry continued to decline. Lou Liren, Secretary General of the city's textile and garment industry association, introduced that the city's textile and garment export trade, driven by epidemic prevention materials, has maintained a stable and good overall situation.

Analyzing the reasons for the growth, Lou Liren said: first of all, policy support at all levels has been implemented. According to Lou Liren, there are a number of leading textile and garment enterprises in Yantai. It is these core enterprises that lead and support the steady, sustainable and high-quality development of Yantai's textile and garment industry.

"Seizing the opportunity and actively transforming during the epidemic period are also the main reasons for the development and growth of the industry." Lou Liren said that Shandong Shulang Garment Group, which has ten independently developed fashion brands, originally operated mainly in the domestic market. After the outbreak of the epidemic, Shulang Medical Technology Co., Ltd. was established immediately to produce medical protective articles and become the key unit of national collection and storage. At the same time, fashion, military products, and medical protection materials are working together to develop domestic and foreign markets. Medical protection products are exported to France, Italy and other European and American countries and regions, becoming a model enterprise that focuses on domestic market and drives export to international market.

Actively respond to the epidemic situation and seize opportunities in the challenges. In the first half of the year alone, more than 100 new textile and garment enterprises emerged in the city. These new enterprises have expanded the production and export trade team and made contributions to the textile and clothing export trade of the city.
