　　 With a pure heart, he gave up the overseas preferential treatment and resolutely returned to China to devote himself to scientific research. After ten years of hard work, he overcame the key technology of "choking" in the field of materials. Wang Dong said that he has an indissoluble bond with textile.

　　 Wang Dong: I grew up in Sinopec Yizheng Chemical Fiber Co., Ltd. and was influenced by everything from childhood. After graduating from high school, he was admitted to China Textile University, where he had been studying for a master's degree. Later, he went to the University of California, Davis, USA, to engage in research on microscopy and polymer science. After graduating from doctor's degree, he went to Invista, USA, to carry out research on spandex.

　　 After being a material scientist for some time, I felt that the textile market in our country is very huge, and the development prospect is very broad. More importantly, I feel very honored to be able to do something for the national textile industry through my own efforts.

　　 It was very accidental that I got to know Wuhan Textile University. Academician Xu Weilin happened to be a visiting scholar in the United States at that time. Before he left the United States, we knew each other and had a simple exchange. I felt that Wuhan Textile University was really rooted in the textile industry, carrying out talent training and scientific research, and the personality charm of the senior (Xu Weilin) also deeply attracted me.

　　 Back in 2010, I came to Wuhan Textile University to continue the development and research of textile materials.

　　 In the first half of my life, I had an indissoluble bond with textile.

　　 Choosing one thing and working for his whole life, Wang Dong devoted himself to the research of nanomaterials, made unremitting explorations, and ran out of the "acceleration" of textile technology innovation. From 2018 to 2024, he won the first prize of the "Light of Textile" China Textile Federation Science and Technology Award for three times.

　　 Wang Dong: The Textile Light Science and Technology Education Foundation is very helpful to promote scientific and technological progress and talent cultivation in the textile industry. For example, after we won the first prize of the "Light of Textile" China Textile Federation Science and Technology Award in 2018, we also won the first prize of technological invention in Hubei Province. At present, this achievement has been transformed and applied. Fiber based high-efficiency filtering materials have served high-tech industries such as food, beverage, biopharmaceuticals, electronic information, etc.

　　 In the tide of economic globalization, China's textile industry has entered the "fast lane", new products and technologies are emerging, and the mechanism of scientific and technological innovation and achievement transformation has been gradually improved. In recent years, many research achievements led by him have been successfully transformed: for example, one of every three mobile phone screens uses nanofiber membrane technology.

　　 Wang Dong: As long as we have a new product developed, many enterprises will contact us immediately, and then work together with us to develop fabrics and promote brands. The scientific and technological innovation of the whole industry has formed a cooperation mechanism, which I think is a very good trend.

　　 I think textile industry is the industry that really makes Chinese people have great confidence. For the laboratory, we mainly focus on fiber materials and cross industries, and our textile materials serve various fields of the national economy, which also makes our research more targeted.

　　 Science and technology are changing rapidly, and the world is changing rapidly. The role and advantages of cross-border cooperation are highlighted, and Wang Dong and his team have also sprouted new ideas.

　　 Wang Dong: The team led by me, first, should be deeply rooted in the field of fiber materials and advanced textile materials, deeply rooted in the world, follow the trend, and carry out extensive exchanges and cooperation; Secondly, we should guide the research of fiber materials and advanced textile materials based on demand, better serve the country's major needs and economic development, and make our modest contribution to pushing our country's textile industry to the leading position in the world.
