Japan polypropylene company, which operates 12 polypropylene (PP), has an annual capacity of 1.08 tonnes. The company announced that it delayed the start of its new polypropylene plant on deer island.

The 300000 ton PP plant on deer island was originally planned for March. An official of the company confirmed the delay in production. He said that it was expected to be put into operation in September 2009.

He said: "the annual production capacity of the new polypropylene plant is 300000 tons, and will be put into operation in deer island in September 2009. The original plan was put into operation in mid March and postponed for 6 months."

He added: "now the total capacity of the 12 PP plant is 1.08 metric tons, and the capacity of all the factories is reduced by fifty-five percent due to the slowdown in the economy and the reduction of orders."
